If you live in or buy a manufactured or mobile home you need to be aware that some standard items you just cannot go to the big box stores to buy.
#1 If you need a new door it is less expensive to buy a regular mobile / manufactured door than to buy one from the big box stores. Reasons for this is if you buy a normal door you will need a carpenter to frame out the opening to fit the door in.
#2 Most of the door frames are too big for a mobile home frame unless it is a newer model with 2×4 or 2×6 wall studs.
But if you buy a door made for a mobile home it comes with a frame and hinges already installed. If you are semi handi you can install the door yourself. Just remove the screws from your existing door and pop frame and all out of the wall. Then clean up the frame and siding and install your new door after installing the tacky tape to the new frame.
#3 If you need a door knob you can’t just go and buy a regular door knob, it won’t work. You need to buy a doorknob and deadbolt made for mobile home doors. They will fit with no hassle.
